If you’ve been to Vetri Community Partnership’s headquarters recently, you’ve probably noticed some new large-scale art gracing our walls. The piece, titled Recipe for Community, is a mural by artist Cindy Lozito and was
created in collaboration with Mural Arts Philadelphia.

On January 25, 2024, Mural Arts and Vetri Community Partnership held a dedication event to honor the work and creativity behind the mural. Speakers at the dedication included Vetri Community Partnership’s co-founder and co-chair of the Board of Directors, Marc Vetri, VCP’s CEO, Maddy Booth, Mural Arts’ Executive Director Jane Golden, State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, and artist Cindy Lozito. Guests included Ashley Biden,  and a number of media outlets came to cover the event as well.

As part of the mural dedication, Vetri Community Partnership also hosted a cooking class with Mural Art’s Restorative Justice program participants. In honor of the recipe that inspired the mural, participants prepared Moroccan Vegetable Stew, Couscous, Lemony Yogurt, and Cinnamon Citrus, and guests were able to join them in the kitchen after the dedication to mix, mingle, and sample the recipes.

“This mural – the first thing most people would see when they enter the space – should make them feel like they belong and – of course – get them excited about food!” said muralist Cindy Lozito in her remarks.

If you want to check out the mural, you can! Join us every other Tuesday for our Community Cooking Classes to view the mural and cook alongside friends and neighbors. Click here to see the Classes and Events schedule and register for a class today.
