From Pumpkin Soup to Shakshuka… October was deli From Pumpkin Soup to Shakshuka… October was delicious and nutritious 🎃

Vetri Cooking Lab students all across Philadelphia cooked up Veggie Fajitas, Garlic Herb Chicken Thighs, Pumpkin Soup, and more! Along the way, we overheard some of our favorite moments:

💬 “I’ve never eaten any of these things before!”
💬 “I feel so proud of myself right now.”
💬 “Wow! I didn’t think I’d like this, but I loved it!”

We also welcomed so many amazing groups into the Teaching Kitchen, from Cooking for Heart Health and Community Cooking for Seniors to @petcharterhs’s Culinary Club, @bakerhostetler, @sugga_mamas_diabetes, and @jeffersonuniv medical students.

Thanks to everyone who cooked, laughed, and learned with us this month. You belong in the Teaching Kitchen. 💚
Vetri Community Partnership isn’t a food bank, b Vetri Community Partnership isn’t a food bank, but we are a proud part of Philadelphia’s food ecosystem. Right now, knowing how to cook is more important than ever.

With the disruption to SNAP benefits coming on November 1st, compounded by a federal shutdown and Pennsylvania’s ongoing budget impasse, many of our neighbors are at risk of losing vital food access.

The Turkey Giveaway is our annual food distribution event on November 22nd. Here's how you can support families affected by SNAP funding freezes through Vetri Community Partnership!

🦃 Donate to the Turkey Giveaway: Help us provide families with fresh produce, shelf-stable ingredients, and cooking tools this holiday season. Your support also powers Teaching Kitchen programs that build skills and confidence for cooking at home.

💛 Host a Tool & Food Drive: Collect or purchase items from our Wish List to help families cook, eat, and thrive. All donations will be distributed at the Turkey Giveaway and can be dropped off at the Teaching Kitchen (915 Spring Garden St.) by Thursday, November 20.

After retiring from a 40-year career in mental hea After retiring from a 40-year career in mental health, 31 of which were spent working in the field of eating disorders, Wendy was looking for a meaningful way to stay involved and give back. She found it in the kitchens and classrooms of Vetri Community Partnership.

We’re so grateful for Wendy’s passion, wisdom, and generous spirit. Her story is a powerful reminder of how food, education, and community can come together to make a lasting impact, not just on program participants, but on the volunteers who make our work possible.

A word from CEO Maddy Booth... "At Vetri Communit A word from CEO Maddy Booth...

"At Vetri Community Partnership, we believe that every meal shared, and every skill learned helps to create a healthier Philadelphia. Over the past year, we’ve seen this come to life in countless kitchens: school classrooms, community centers, on the road with the Mobile Teaching Kitchen, and right here in our own Teaching Kitchen.

In collaboration with partners across the city, we provided hands-on cooking and nutrition education experiences for thousands of Philadelphians. Within every experience was a moment of connection — a student discovering a new food, a parent and child cooking together for the first time, or a senior finding friendship and purpose through our classes."

Last week, the students at Kirkbride had a blast a Last week, the students at Kirkbride had a blast assembling a spread including Shakshuka, Whole Wheat Pita, Lemony Bulgur, and a Spiced Yogurt Dip!

They measured spices, chopped veggies, and even learned how to crack eggs. They tossed all of these together to create a colorful spread of abundant flavors. They enjoyed seeing how all of the spices could come together and create this array of food!

Once everything was ready, team leaders proudly dished out plates for everyone to taste and enjoy together.

After just a few weeks, it’s been incredible to see students grow more curious and confident with every class. One student even kept a list of all the new vegetables she tried (onions, peppers, and tomatoes) so she could share her excitement with her family at home. 💚
