Henry assembling a snack plate at home!

After teaching a SNAP-Ed cooking class at Folk Arts Cultural Treasures School (FACTS), SNAP-Ed Educator Jamie received the following email from the parent of seventh-grader, Henry:

“Henry had the cooking class on Tuesday. He came home that night and UNPROMPTED, prepared a fruit and veggie tray for the family to snack on before dinner was ready, set the table, including glasses of ice water. I was blown away and so grateful for the help. I really think he was inspired by his class earlier in the day. These soft skills are so important and really make a difference.”

SNAP-Ed is making an impact on the lives of thousands of people across Philadelphia and in Camden. Kids are choosing more nutritious options for snacks because of the consistent and ongoing exposure to fruits and veggies they receive during their SNAP-Ed program.

You may have heard that SNAP-Ed funding is on the chopping block in the current federal budget. We remain steadfast in our belief that this program is crucial for the health of our communities. Click here to learn more about how you can help advocate for SNAP-Ed and healthier communities.
